At present, both general nutritional information and sport specific
guidelines are readily available in numerous books of all sizes.
"Nutrition in Sport", edited by R. Maughan, is a new book in the IOC
Medical Commission publication series that is highly recommendable for
acquiring more in-depth knowledge in the field.
Nevertheless, ignoring the risk of producing mostly banalities and oversimplifications, this section will attempt to present some basic nutritional information related to endurance sports like cross-country skiing. The target group is therefore skiers, coaches, and medical staff with limited previous knowledge in this area.
